Happy New Year

Happy New Year!

(My apoligies for a gap in the postings, our internet browser wasn't compatable with the the updates our blogging site upgraded to, so I had to figure that out.)

We started the New Year with mom visiting, and we got to put Kaylee in her party dress onesie.

Kaylee seems to be learning something new every day
She is turning on her side, especially when she is sucking on her fingers.  She has started understanding how comforting putting her hands on her face can be.  She is grabbing and pulling on the toys on her play gym; she wiggles around so much that I will put her on one side and she will end up in a 180 degree turn from where she was.  She is doing so good at lifting her head up, she likes to sit up more then lay down now.  She loves the monkey toy Auntie Janine got her, she plays with it about 10 times a day.  She really likes the carrier bar and Tummy time pillow from my parents.  Although, she has learned that when gets she tired on it and doesn't want to be on it anymore she can just roll off of it now.  She will enjoy the rest of the toys she was given, but has to grow into the rest.

The most significant change has been that she is so vocal.  She is saying  "Ah-Goo" "Ah-Gee" She is making razzing noises and squeals and squeaks, and saying AH-ah over and over again.  You simply cannot smile at her without her smiling back. If anyone around her smiles, or she sees a person smile on TV smile or if one of her stuffed animals has a smile-- she will smile back.  She gets so excited, she kicks and swings her arms with all her might.  We bought her a jumper a bit early because she kept wanting to be upright.  She like to sit upright about 90% of the time now and she is getting so good at moving things and grabbing and pulling.  She is so advanced in this stuff its amazing to watch her grow and develop.

Being on my side is great

Davin started his next semester at school and Tara went back to work on the 20th.  We interviewed nannies for 3 weeks and boy was that more time consuming then I thought.  Half of them aren't worth talking to, then of those people only half are available, half of our interviews didn't even show up and we were left with a smaller selection of candidates.  We finally picked Emily.  She has been a great addition to our home.  She loves to sing and read to her.  She plays and talks to her, it makes having to be away from Kaylee much easier knowing she is being well loved.

Well...we have a mole/s in our yard.  And any of you who know Davin even a little know how ridiculously passionate Davin is that his lawn is immaculate.  We got a specialist to confirm.  Moles are a protected species so they cannot be killed or removed, BUT we can kill their food source.  The specialist laid down a fertilizer that kills the food so that they just leave our property and hopefully go into the greenbelt behind our house or the neighbors will despise us.  Since they laid it down though, they are franticly digging around for food and Davin is out there every day fixing their tunnels and dirt piles.  Poor Davin. He is so mad.
